Gloatsteig

Tuesday, 16th June

Walk: Lift up to Bruggeralm, Pfarrachalm, Pfarrachsteig, Ploven, Fulpmes
Start Point: Hotel, Schlick 2000 Distance: 11.2 miles
Ascent: 2,555 feet Descent: 3,742 feet
Max Alt: 5,876 feet Time: 5.25 hours
Weather: Heavy drizzle and low mist, improving in the afternoon
Comments: The Gloatsteig balcony path was a pleasant route with lots of wild flowers and a Fire Salamander, which only emerges in wet weather. The Pfarrachalm was closed but we were able to take advantage of the tables and benches to eat our lunch. From here we followed another balcony path, the Pfarrachsteig, until we reached the forest track to begin our descent. We then turned onto a track descending through woodland to emerge at Ploven and a short walk back to the hotel.
